Twenty questions from every corner of the site

This quiz is the sampler. Its 20 questions draw from every dataset Final Score keeps: 14 ask about champions, 5 ask about the rules of a sport, and 1 sets two sports side by side in a cross-sport comparison.

The champion questions come from the site’s champions dataset — Super Bowls, World Cups, the NBA, the World Series, the Stanley Cup, the Premier League, the Champions League, and Formula 1 title winners. The rule questions come from a separate dataset covering the settled numbers of 14 sports. Everything asked is settled: completed seasons and rules as the book states them, never anything that depends on a season still in progress.

Two writers, one diff, then the questions

Every answer traces back to a dataset that was written twice. Two authors compiled the same lists independently, and the two versions were compared entry by entry before a single question was generated. On the champions dataset, all 232 entries agreed at the first comparison. A question exists here only because both copies said the same thing.

That is also why the text on this page names no winners. The quiz asks; the prose does not answer.

How a round runs

Each question shows four options. Pick one and you learn immediately whether you were right, with a one-line explanation either way. After the twentieth question comes a full review of the round: every question, your pick, and the correct answer. Your best score is saved in your browser for next time. No signup, nothing to download — the quiz runs in this page. Final Score is an independent quiz site; league and competition names are used only to refer to the competitions.
