Final Score

Hockey Quiz

A hockey quiz in 13 questions: Stanley Cup champions, the settled rules of the game, and one cross-sport comparison, playable right here in the page.

Rules and Stanley Cups in thirteen questions

The 13 questions come in three flavors: 7 on Stanley Cup champions, 5 on the rules of the game, and 1 cross-sport comparison that sets hockey against the other sports on the site.

The champion questions cover completed, settled seasons only, which means the pool respects the gap in the record: the 2004-05 lockout season awarded no Stanley Cup, and no question pretends otherwise. The rule questions stick to the settled numbers of hockey — figures that live in the rulebook rather than the standings.

Verification before a single question existed

Final Score works from two datasets, and each was written twice by independent authors. The champions dataset — 232 entries covering the Stanley Cup alongside the site’s other competitions — matched in full when the two versions were diffed entry by entry. The rules dataset, covering the settled numbers of 14 sports, went through the same two-author comparison. Questions were generated only where both copies agreed.

How the round moves

Every question presents four options. Make your pick and the result is immediate: right or wrong, with a one-line explanation either way. No winner is named anywhere in this text; the quiz asks, the prose does not answer.

When the thirteenth question is done, the review lays the round out in full — each question, your answer, and the correct one. Your best score is saved in your browser for the next run. There is no signup and nothing to download; the quiz plays in this page. Final Score is independent of any league, and competition names refer only to the competitions themselves.
